Fort Wayne (Ind.) – October 26th, Medical
Informatics Engineering (MIE), Inc. announces a new web-based portal for The
Medical Manager (NASDAQ: HLTH).
MIE's WWW portal for Medical Manager, named W3M2, enables
physicians to access patient demographics, scheduling, procedure history, lab
results, and imaging coupled with their Medical Manager systems using only a web
browser. The most recent developed
module allows physicians and their office staff to post charges, schedule
patients, and receive payments all through the web portal.
"MIE is developing W3M2 for billing services and MSOs
to turn their existing Medical Manager systems into portals for
physicians.", stated Douglas Horner, president of MIE.
"We have developed many of the features physician offices require to
operate from a clinical and administrative perspective."
While WebMD has been struggling to build their portal, W3M2 has been in
operation on MIE's medical network for over a year.
MIE's Northern Indiana community network has more than the majority of
the physicians in the community it serves.
Since the W3M2 portal requires nothing more than a browser
on the client side, it makes deployment and maintenance fast and simple.
Furthermore, training physicians and office staff is easy because the simplified
point-and-click browser technology is intuitive. Enhancements such as touch
screens and handwriting recognition make it is possible to setup an inexpensive
network kiosk that permits physicians to be fully functional with W3M2
"without ever touching" a keyboard or mouse!
W3M2 includes Link Manager technology to construct
hyperlinks that automate data entry to external systems.
The Link Manager creates hyperlinks to pharmacies, labs, dictation
systems, imaging systems, and/or any web-based information system. Currently
developed modules include Display Patient, Scheduling, Clinical Dictation/Notes
Manager, Administrative Imaging, Clinical Imaging (DICOM lib), and
Charge/Payment Management. Since the original release of W3M2, MIE has developed
relationships with VARs across the country to install and support W3M2.
The W3M2 portal will be licensed either as a one-time purchase, or on a
monthly plan. The base system cost
per physician is expected to be a monthly rate of $32.
MIE has a test portal running at www.w3m2.com to allow
interested parties to see first hand how easy the software is to use. Medical
