Medical Informatics Releases Web Interface for The Medical Manager Scheduler
Fort Wayne (Ind.) June 22, Medical Informatics Engineering (MIE), Inc.
released a new web-based module for The Medical Manager (NASDAQ: MMGR) which
was recently purchased by Synetic, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNTC)
This is the second web-based interface for The Medical Manager MIE has
released in the past two months. The WWW interface for Medical Manager,
named W3M2, enables physicians to access patient information within their
Medical Manager systems using only a web browser. The new module released
by MIE allows physicians and their office staff to access their schedules
in the same manner. "The web scheduler enables physicians to check their
schedules from their office, their homes, and even the hospital.", stated
Douglas R. Horner, president of MIE. "And since it can be done within a
browser, there is no software to install on remote machines. Furthermore,
the interface is intuitive which makes the scheduler very easy to use."
W3M2 will work with Windows/browser enhancements such as touch screens and
handwriting recognition. It is possible to setup workstation kiosks
inexpensively that permit providers to be fully functional with W3M2
"without ever touching" a keyboard or mouse!
W3M2 is highly modular and easily expandable. Currently developed modules
include Display Patient, Scheduling, Clinical Dictation/Notes Manager,
Administrative Imaging, and Clinical Imaging (DICOM lib). Modules currently
under development are Referring Physician Access Control and Patient Chart
Manager (View Patient Chart). All of the above modules will be ready for
release this year.
MIE is making the W3M2 software and scheduler interface freely available
from their website, www.w3m2.com for a period of time. Since the original
release of W3M2, MIE has developed relationships with VARs across the
country to install and support W3M2 from a local perspective. MIE will
be announcing pricing for W3M2 and it's options soon, but has plans to
offer an on-line leasing option as an inexpensive way to use the software.
Medical Informatics Engineering, Inc. (http://www.mieweb.com/) develops
web-based applications for the healthcare industry. In Addition, MIE
develops locally operated on-line healthcare communities.
